Sightseeing Around Dalaman

Many memories, historical and natural beauties combined with a huge amount of entertaining activities are waiting for you at Dalaman!

If you are a swimmer and don’t have health problems, Rafting at Dalaman River is serving you full of adrenalin and entertaining during a nature trip. On hot summer days, you can refresh yourself in the cold waters of a leafy canyon or get into an adventure.

Caunos is an ancient city which dates back over 3000 years and showed hospitality to Carian, Persian, Helen, Roman and Byzantine empires throughtout the history. It is only a short hop of 20 km from Dalaman.

Caunos’s best creations are rock tombs. The spectacular rock-cut tombs which meet the eyes of the visitors coming to Caunos, by way of either sea or land, are undoubtedly the most significant examples of funerary architecture in Caunos. In ancient belief, the further one’s grave was the closer he was to god. Therefore kings’ and important peoples’ tombs were carved into rocks. Visitors of the Lykian coast will face these at the whole coast from Dalyan to Antalya.

After you have seen Phisilis Ancient City in Sarıgerme you can interrupt your historical tour and continue with the caves and beaches.

İztuzu Beach, which is also called Turtle Beach, is in Dalyan Gökbel Village where the turtles lay their eggs. For not disturbing turtles, Turtle Beach is closed from 8 pm to 8 am. It was awarded with many worldwide honours.

– Best Open Places in Europe, 2008 (The Times)

– Best Beach in Europe, 2011 (Zoover and Meteovista)

You might also visit Sarıgerme Beach which has a blue flag. Alternatives with a quiet atmosphere are Aşk Bay with its little marina, Kargıcak Bay offering a beautiful sunset and Şeytancık Bay close to Iztuzu Beach.

This spectacular long beach situated into an impressive landscape, for many connoisseurs, is one of the most beautiful beaches of the world. In 2006 Ölüdeniz was honoured with the award of “World’s Most Beautiful Beach”. Paragliding is the most popular and commandable activity in this region.

This little, cozy seaport offers natural beauties as pine forests, turquoise blue waters and historical ruins you must discover.

These are only a few options of importance worth to be recommended. But we must admit, beyond that there is much more to see and visit. Be sure; every single day in Dalaman will remain as an unforgettable memory in your life.
